Fallen leaf
After some lovely bright days, we're now coming to the damper part of autumn with lots of puddles and heavy showers to knock the leaves off the trees. I took this picture last year, I just loved the contrast of the red leaf against the bluey-green of the weed in the water.
Gorgeous dahlia
I have a soft spot for dahlias, they remind me of the very happy hours spent gardening as a child with my dear friend Eric. Eric grew prize winning dahlias and sweet peas. We grew so many varieties in his small garden, so many colours, shapes and sizes. This one was part of a display in a botanical garden with over 150 types, it was wonderful but my favourite was this gorgeous deep red one, sadly there weren't any names to identify this beauty.
End of summer flower
We're coming to the end of flower season now but I've not yet had a chance to get out for the autumn leaves. These little cyclamen are one of the first signs autumn is on its way and this year that seemed earlier than ever.
Just a little plant
Another picture from the beautiful Oxford Botanical Gardens, I just loved the simplicity of the leaves and the shadow against the conservatory wall.
Greenhouse triptych
Oh my goodness, it's October already and I'm not finished with summer yet! Here's a little triptych from the Oxford Botanical Garden Greenhouses. I took these on a @SheClicks birthday meet-up. It's always such fun meeting up with a bunch of ladies and their cameras and the Botanical Gardens were gorgeous, can't wait to do it all again soon.
