Mayflies in May!
I love the delicacy of mayflies but it’s so hard to get find one in just the right position. I was out and about yesterday when I spotted something on a blade of grass, it was a mayfly with just the loveliest light behind. I was supposed to be hurrying to meet a friend for coffee, it’s a good job she’s a photographer too and was totally understanding of the reason I was late!

Bursting bud
I’m sticking with a purply-pink vibe, it seems to be a strong colour in May. I love Alliums and in particular the buds just before they pop open, all those little flowers waiting to explode out like a firework.
In the pink!
I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to see my favourite cherry tree in full bloom this year but I made it just in time. Spring seemed to come so early this year with everything popping out into full bloom all at the same time. I was so pleased when I came around the corner to see I’d not missed the mass of frothy pale pink blooms.
Bluebell season
This week I finally managed to get out to see some bluebells. With the recent heat some were already fading but, as ever, it was magical to be stood in the woods surrounded by a carpet of flowers. Of course I could not help but try to find a stem standing out from the crowd.
