I love summer umbellifers, they come in so many variations but I will admit I find it hard to distinguish all the different types. I think this is ground elder, but I'm not sure! Let me know if you know for sure. I loved the pompom flowers on the end of each stalk. See below for more of the flower and leaves.

It's poppy season in the UK where I associate them with high summer but, when we went to Italy in late April, where it felt very much like spring, I was surprised to see how many poppies there were singing out against shades of spring green. Sadly many of the poppies were in completely inaccessible places! To get to this one I had to climb up some ancient city walls (on a permitted path)...the things we do for a picture of a poppy!

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend! It's foxglove season and I love the way these tall spires pop up in the woods and how the white ones really sing out against a dark background especially in the evening.
