Lonely bluebell

Lonely bluebell! This one was taken 10 days ago before the main bluebell season got going (in some places it still hasn't) and the lovely blue carpets hadn't appeared, it just called out to me to be photographed. I got absolutely filthy crawling about on the floor of the woods trying to capture its best side!

This spring has not been kind to the magnolia flowers, we have had so many cold nights and even some snow, two things delicate flowers don't like. I was pleased to catch these in between cold snaps.

I'm sure I've told you this before... I love to walk in the woods as the sun is going down, so many details are highlighted by the low sun, such a gorgeous time of day.

Frosty fritillaries

Happy Monday Morning!
Last week I had a couple of lovely early morning trips to the Fritillary field, it was amazing to see it all covered in the most amazing frost although the flowers were rather weighed down. Once the sun came up the flowers soon perked up, covered in sparkly jewels. Such a magic time.

New favourites

This year I've had more chance to actually look at daffodils and narcissi, there are so many shapes, sizes and colours, I can't believe how long the season is..... and it's given me the chance to choose some favourites. I've decided I prefer the paler, smaller varieties and ideally those with an amazing scent, I had no idea they could smell so amazing. This is a new favourite, Narcissus Toto, I wish I had bought more, they will be on my shopping list in the autumn.
